Weekly Poem # 11
this poem comes from a workshop exercise..
morning orange
a dawn dancer folds, rolls
unfolds, naked arms pale
glisten in morning dew, a day
awakens in summer heat
a skin peeled, tart juice tumbles
you awake, nectar pirouettes tongue
acid tingles lips, the curtain
parts in a flood of June sun
coffee next, its aroma tickling
your mind to alertness, the Americas
offering up their bounty: California,
Colombia and a sweet pear from Peru
