Weekly Poem #6
Happy New Year
afternoon dusk, Yellowknife
the soft dark holds down the day
snow small flakes drifting
across Back Bay
a line of amber street lights
above the far trees
illuminate
the whitened shore rocks
the last line of day sky
slides away
blue to indigo to black
star pocked
a three quarter moon looms
the faintest rustle of northern lights
a green ripple
heading to midnight
